Ryder's Birthday Party "Choo Choo"
Before our trip up to the North Pole, on November 27th, we stopped in Scottsdale at the Train Park to help Christine's BFF, Ryder, celebrate his 2nd birthday! We had so much fun! We chowed down on pizza, had some juice and best of all, rode the Choo Choo Train! Christine also got a chance to ride on the Carousel! After all of Ryder's family and friends left, Ryder and Christine took their Daddies on the Choo Choo train for one last ride! They really enjoyed themselves!
The North Pole & "I touched Santa"
After the ride up to Flagstaff, we got situated into the room and Christine decided it was time for bed. Unfortunately, Mommy was sick :-( Christine did well through the night, until about 3:30 a.m., when she decided it would be more fun to get up and watch some cartoons, play with playdough and bounce around the hotel room. Around 5:00 a.m. she settled down and went back to sleep. In the morning Christine and Daddy took a bath and went to the buffett for a nice breakfast while I tried to catch up on some sleep. A little later in the day, the whole family headed to the gift shop to get some milk for nap time. On the way, Christine went outside in the snow for the first time (she saw snow in NY when she was only a few months old). At this point, she was still calling snow "santa". Here, she is touching the snow and saying "I touch Santa". Super cute!
Daddy didn't feel well the rest of the afternoon, and Mommy was still tired, so the whole family hung out in the hotel room until it was time to drive to the North Pole. Christine was an angel. Being stranded in the room all day she found plenty to do to occupy herself! Before we left, we ordered her her very own room service! Grilled Cheese and French Fries! Yum!
After getting in our wonderful matching Jammies - Mickey, Minnie and Pluto flannels with matching robes, we started on our drive to Williams. During the ride to the North Pole we watched Christmas videos. Michey's Christmas Spectacular, Thomas' Christmas Special, Etc. Christine loves to join along in singing "Deck the Halls", "la, la, la, la".... She is adorable!
When we got to the north pole, there was so much to do! We got to go visit with Mrs. Clause, took a picture in front of a pretty Christmas Tree, colored in a Christmas Picture, wrote a letter to Santa (and put it in his mail box) and watched a toy Choo Choo train! We were lucky enough to share all of this fun with Christine's friends Vaughn and Ryder (as well as their families).
Then came the most exciting part - the Choo Choo ride to Santa's Village! On the way to see Santa we got to read "The Polar Express" and eat cookies and drink hot cocoa! When we came upon all of the lights, the Mommies sat on the Right side of the train with the kiddo's so they could see Santa Clause!!! Then, we headed back to the train depot, at which point Santa was no longer on his sleigh, because he was on the train! He stopped by and gave each child a bell! Lastly, we all sang Christmas carols all the way back. What a special experience to share! We will surely make the polar express a tradition!
Breakfast, Snow & Farewell Flagstaff
The morning after the polar express we shared a lovely breakfast with the Thompson's. Both Vaughn and Christine were so well behaved! Christine ate all of her favorites: Eggs, Grapes, Cereal, Yogurt and Bacon! After breakfast, the three of us went outside and played in the "santa". Christine finally started calling it "snow"! It was sad to have to leave flagstaff. With Mommy and Daddy being sick, we all felt a little jipped. But at least we will have a chance to go back in January with the whole family (Nana, Papa, Uncle J and Shannon too). And, of course, there is always next year - for the polar express!
